PUBLIC PROFILE

Savo Constructions

Business Leader

Parkes · NSW

asf

I began my carpentry journey at the age of 14, handcrafting a log home in Finland. Since then, I have gained over 20 years of experience in carpentry and various construction roles. I hold a builder’s certification and a Diploma of Building, combining practical craftsmanship with formal qualifications.

As the director of Savo Constructions, I value quality workmanship, honest communication and attention to detail in every project.

Outside work, I enjoy hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors, but my greatest priority is spending time with my two children.
Savo Constructions is a licensed and insured construction company based in Forbes, NSW, servicing Parkes and the wider Central West. We deliver residential and commercial projects, including renovations, extensions, new builds, carpentry, roofing and fit-outs.

For specialist and custom projects, we also work across NSW, Victoria and Tasmania.

Led by Jyri Karisto, who brings over 20 years of construction experience, our team combines skilled craftsmanship with quality materials and a strong focus on safety and compliance with the National Construction Code and Australian Standards.

We value clear communication, transparent pricing and careful planning, giving clients a realistic understanding of costs and inclusions from the outset. Local references are available on request.

Distinguished and Famous people from Greater Melbourne

⚙️ Sir John Monash

John Monash was born in West Melbourne in 1865 and established himself as an engineer before his wartime command made him internationally known. Melbourne projects included work on Princes Bridge and responsibility for construction of the Outer Circle railway while still in his twenties. A citizen soldier alongside his civilian profession, he eventually commanded the Australian Corps in 1918. The combination of technical training and organisational skill runs through both careers. Melbourne’s connection is therefore much more than a birthplace: its bridges, railway work and professional institutions formed part of the practical education behind his later responsibilities.

🏛️ Sir Robert Menzies

Robert Menzies came to Melbourne for schooling and developed a formidable legal career after graduating from the University of Melbourne in 1916. His appearance in the Engineers’ Case helped establish his standing as a barrister. State politics preceded the federal seat of Kooyong and the prime ministership. The schoolboy was already remembered for confidence and a seemingly inexhaustible supply of conversation. Those early Melbourne years connect education, advocacy and political speechmaking, skills that later became central to one of Australia’s longest and most influential parliamentary careers.

📚 Germaine Greer

Germaine Greer grew up in Melbourne’s bayside suburbs and studied English and French literature at the University of Melbourne. Further study took her to Sydney and Cambridge before The Female Eunuch made her an internationally prominent feminist writer in 1970. The intellectual and social restrictions she encountered in postwar Melbourne formed part of the background to that public voice. Her later career moved across criticism, academic work and contentious public debate. The University of Melbourne also holds her archive, bringing an extensive record of an expatriate career back into the city of her education.

🌿 Dame Elisabeth Murdoch

Elisabeth Murdoch combined decades of charitable work in Melbourne with a deep commitment to Cruden Farm at Langwarrin. She served for thirty-three years on the Royal Children’s Hospital board and supported arts, medical and community organisations. Garden work fitted around meetings and public responsibilities, often beginning at dawn or continuing in the evening. Cruden Farm had been a wedding present in 1928 and became a lifelong project. Her biography links substantial institutional service with the patient, physical work of gardening, two activities that drew on the same formidable energy.
